How do I get to Rotorua?
From the north by car Rotorua is 234 kilometres from Auckland, a journey which takes about three and half hours by leisurely car ride using State Highways 1 and 5. From Auckland city, take the motorway South, following the signs to Hamilton. Once in Hamilton take State Highway 1 to Tirau and turn off on State Highway 5 signposted to Rotorua.
From the south by car Rotorua is 457 kilometres from Wellington, via the Desert Road on State Highway 1. Coming from Taupo in the south, Rotorua is just over an hour's car journey on State Highway 5.
Tauranga and the beaches of Mount Maunganui are just 45 minutes east from Rotorua.
By Bus or Shuttle Service Professional coach companies operate throughout the north island, delivering an efficient bus service between main centres. Rotorua's central location is ideal for coach travel. It is linked to numerous other towns in the North Island of New Zealand.
As well, a number of companies operate daily door to door pick up shuttle services between Rotorua and Auckland and other centres. Many have pick ups from the airport, enroute towns and the outer suburbs.

Cleveland Motel is situated on the North side of Rotorua and is about a two minute drive, or a fifteen minute walk, to the Lake front or central city where you will find fabulous restaurants, cafes and shopping.
By Air Rotorua has a national airport used by national carrier Air New Zealand. Flights out of Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch take less than an hour and the airport is conveniently located close to the city centre.
